Aluminum sheet sign

Durable single-skin aluminum sheet. The classic for parking, traffic, and real-estate signs.

Small and posted: aluminium. Big and flat: ACM.

Good to know

  • It's great small and posted. Go larger and the thin single skin flexes and oil-cans, which is the point where ACM (Dibond) becomes the right call.

What it is

A flat sheet of rust-proof aluminum (commonly .040" or .063" thick) printed or surfaced with cut vinyl. It's cheaper and thinner than ACM, which makes it ideal for smaller durable outdoor signs.

Choose it when

You need a small, durable, post-mountable outdoor metal sign. Choose it over ACM when the sign is small and budget matters.

Strengths

  • Rust-proof and weatherable
  • Cheaper than ACM for small signs
  • Easy to drill and post-mount

Watch-outs

  • Thin single skin flexes and oil-cans at larger sizes (use ACM)
  • Bare-metal ~3–5 yr; ~5–8 yr with UV laminate

Not the right call for: Large flat panels (use Dibond/ACM) · Premium edge-finished signage
