Capabilities / Dimensional Letters

Dimensional letters in metal, acrylic, foam, and push-through.

Fabricated metal, cast and routed acrylic, structural foam, and push-through faces, in stud-mount, pad-mount, or flush-mount. These go on lobby logos, exterior building IDs, and interior brand walls where dimension matters more than illumination.

Overview

Dimension without backlight.

Dimensional letters are individually fabricated, non-illuminated letter forms. Think fabricated metal, cast and routed acrylic, structural foam, and push-through faces. The Signavero network coordinates fabrication and install for lobby logos, exterior building IDs, conference walls, and any brand statement that should read on its depth and finish instead of its glow.

Common applications

Lobby logos, exterior IDs, brand walls.

  • Reception lobby logo walls. The first dimensional read inside a corporate, hospitality, or retail flagship lobby.
  • Exterior building identification. Daytime read in well-lit settings. Campuses, mixed-use developments, hotel monuments.
  • Conference and meeting-room IDs. Individual room name plates in dimensional metal or acrylic on a flush-mount or standoff system.
  • Donor and recognition walls. Stud-mounted metal or acrylic plate systems for healthcare, education, and cultural institutions.
Materials we typically specify

Metal, acrylic, foam, push-through faces.

Fabricated metal
316 SS

Brushed and polished aluminum, brushed and oil-rubbed bronze, 304 (interior) and 316 (coastal) stainless, Cor-Ten weathering steel.

Cast acrylic
1/4–1″

Polished edges, painted second-surface or face. UV-stable for exterior use.

Metal-face acrylic
Premium

Acrylic body with a thin brushed-metal face laminated on. Reads as solid metal at full depth.

Structural foam
1–3″

Lightweight Hartcell-type cores, painted or veneered. The pick for oversized installs where weight is the limit.

Push-through
Flat

Acrylic inserts pushed through a routed metal pan for backlit faces that stay flat.

Fabrication notes

Finish standards that survive the install.

Two fabrication details to lock at drawing. First is the edge treatment on metal letters. A brushed-then-clearcoated finish ages cleanly outdoors. An uncoated brushed finish darkens within a season on coastal sites, so tell us the climate at quote. Second, on acrylic letters with a painted face, the paint chemistry decides everything. The right urethane stays color-stable for 7 to 10 years exterior. A mismatched paint chalks in 18 months.

Installation considerations

Stud, pad, or flush. Pick at survey.

  • Stud mount with 1/4-inch standoff. The standard exterior and architectural interior install. Threaded studs into the substrate; letters float 1/4 inch off the wall for a defined shadow line. Requires accurate drill template.
  • Pad mount. Adhesive pad applied to the back of the letter; lands flush against an interior wall. Fast install, no drilling, but requires a clean, smooth substrate.
  • Flush mount. Letter back sits directly against the wall, fixed with concealed studs. Used on thicker letters where the shadow line is not part of the design intent.
  • Drill template precision. The most common dimensional-letter failure on install day is a misaligned stud pattern. So we field-template every install over 4 letters from one dimensional drill template instead of re-measuring letter by letter.
Cross-links

What pairs with dimensional letters.

On exterior jobs, dimensional letters often run alongside channel letters. The channel letters carry the night read, the dimensional metal carries the day. Inside, they pair routinely with wall graphics as the backdrop, plus ADA wayfinding for the adjacent code signage. Substrate selection runs through substrates & overlaminates.
