Corrugated POP floor display (FSDU)
A printed cardboard stand that holds and sells product on the retail floor, ships flat, and gets recycled when the promotion ends.
What it is
A free-standing display unit (FSDU) built from printed corrugated board that stands on its own in a store aisle or endcap and holds stock on integrated shelves or trays. It ships flat-packed, assembles on the shop floor, and is meant to run a promotion and then be recycled rather than kept.
Choose it when
Choose a corrugated FSDU when you need a free-standing, product-holding display for a defined promotion (typically a few weeks) and want it cheap, fully branded, and recyclable. Step up to a permanent metal or acrylic fixture only if it has to live in the store for years or carry loads cardboard cannot.
Strengths
- Holds real product weight on integrated shelves or trays, not just graphics
- Ships flat-packed, which cuts freight cost and lets staff assemble it on the floor
- Fully printable on every face for strong branded impact in the aisle
- Recyclable and biodegradable cardboard, so disposal at end of promo is easy
- Cheaper than a permanent metal or acrylic fixture for a short campaign
Watch-outs
- – Cardboard structure degrades with moisture, handling, and time. It is not built to last years
- – Bottom edge wicks water from wet floors and nightly scrubbers unless the base is coated
- – Tooling and structural prototyping add lead time up front, so it is poorly suited to rush jobs
- – Load capacity is finite and depends on board grade. Overloaded shelves sag or collapse
- – Single-wall board is too weak for heavy or high-traffic placements
Not the right call for: Outdoor use or any damp environment · Permanent or long-term store fixtures (use metal, wood, or acrylic instead) · Very heavy product loads beyond the rated shelf capacity · Last-minute rush deadlines that cannot absorb structural tooling time
