Vinyl banner
The flexible, roll-up workhorse of large-format. Cheap, fast, printable big, and easy to hang.
“Mesh in the wind, blockout for double-sided.”
Good to know
- It's a short-term workhorse. Hung indoors it lasts. Out in the wind it tears no matter the weight, so use mesh in exposed spots rather than a heavier solid banner.
What it is
A flexible PVC sheet printed and finished with hems and grommets. Weights run from everyday scrim up to 18oz blockout, which is opaque so the back image won't bleed through on double-sided jobs.
Choose it when
You need a large, cheap, temporary message you can hang yourself. Step up to 18oz blockout for opaque, double-sided, longer-term outdoor banners.
Strengths
- Low cost and fast
- Rolls up to ship and store small
- DIY-hangable with grommets
Watch-outs
- – Can sag or wrinkle if hung loose
- – Solid banners catch wind; use mesh or wind slits in exposed spots
Not the right call for: Rigid, flat presentation surfaces · High-wind spans without reinforcement

Questions people ask
Single or double-sided?
For double-sided, use 18oz blockout. Its opaque core stops the back image bleeding through. Standard banners are single-sided.
Will it survive wind?
A solid banner catches wind and can tear. In exposed spots use a mesh banner or add wind slits. A heavier solid banner doesn't solve it.
Grommets or pole pockets?
Grommets to zip-tie or hook it; pole pockets to slide it onto rods. Note: reinforced hems and corners can't be combined with pole pockets.
